Summer Tears/Parental Decisions

A Pair of Drabbles
June 8th, 2005
By Wulf

Title: Summer Tears
House: Gryffindor
Word Count: 100
Challenge: Summer Break
Rating: PG
Characters: Draco and Pansy
Author's Notes: Between 6th and 7th year. It does go with Parental Decisions but stands alone well.

Pansy and Draco. Draco and Pansy. That was all either of them heard all semester long in the Slytherin common room after they started dating. Of course, they were rather inseparable so it only made sense. They planned their summer out, intent on seeing one another as often as possible, ignoring their friends, as they drew closer together.

Therefore, when Draco broke it off with Pansy on the train ride home, she looked at the agonizingly long summer before her, devoid of Draco and deserted by her friends, and Pansy, for the first time in her life, cried bitter tears.

Narcissa was furious when she discovered Pansy’s relationship to her son. At her frenzied insistence, Draco terminated his affair with Pansy and returned home, single once more, cursing himself for a coward.

He ignored the letters Pansy sent, feeling his heart break as he threw them, unopened, into the fire. He tolerated Narcissa’s perpetual harassment with an impassive mien and put her to bed when she finally passed out from the booze. He cried, late at night, after he was sure Narcissa was unconscious and tried not to remember the girl he gave up for the sake of his mother.
